Prof Dr. An Ansoms

An Ansoms is professor in development studies at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). She leads the Centre for Development Studies. She holds a PhD in economics and is involved in research on natural resource dynamics, poverty and inequality in the Great Lakes Region. She pays particular attention to the challenges of rural development and land conflicts in land-scarce (post-)conflict environments. An has recently co-edited a book ‘Losing your land: Dispossession in the Great Lakes Region’ (James Currey, 2014). She coordinates an interdisciplinary action-research project, titled ‘Land Rush’. In Rwanda, she coordinates a research project on the role of civil society and local administration in agrarian and land policies in Rwanda.
